About Us
Gillian Rose, principal of The Outspoken Swan Academy for Drama, Film & Speech, is a driving force in Darwin drama. "The West Australian" journalist graduated from UWA with an Associate Teaching Diploma in Speech & Drama in 1988, followed by a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Linguistics, from CDU the next year. She melded these skills to launch her Drama, Film & Speech academy in 1995, after 7 years experience with small groups in her private studio. Today, she offers various classes to groups of children, aged from 6 to 12 years. The Outspoken Swan's home base is in Malak. The students develop strong, clear and expressive voice skills, movement, memory muscle, quick thinking, problem solving and the joy of being in character or oneself. Many drama games assist in building trust, confidence and poise. Theatre sports further contribute to the devising of scripts, designing of sets, costumes, props, music and lighting.
